my holiday obsessions.

1. penguins.
i love winter mostly because of the abundance of penguin things.

Penguins are fancy dressers

2. lady danville.
they just posted their holiday song on their blog.
pretty sure i’ve had this song on repeat all morning!

random “about me” survey

sometimes, I like to kill time doing pointless surveys.

it’s the most wonderful time of the year!!

December has flown by! i can’t believe Christmas is next week! (technically, christmas eve is THIS week!) oh my goodness!

i’m very blessed to work for an awesome company! i worked my last day of the year on the 14th and i’m on vacation for the next 18 days! :D

i flew home and got to see my dear friend Austin from high school :) it was awesome to see him and catch up. we went to dinner and to a Preds game! we got to watch them beat the Detroit Redwings 4-3 in a really good game! and since the Preds scored 4, we took advantage of the Free Frostys!! :)

friday, i got to watch my friend Heather graduate with her BFA from Austin Peay! i stayed with my BFF Kelsey this weekend and i was able to see a lot of my family from Clarksville!

saturday, i met up with Sharon who i worked with for 3-and-a-half years at APSU and my “other” family, the Penningtons – and i got to meet my adorable little nephew Dakota! it was a lot of fun to see everyone.

last night, i went and saw The Sitter in theaters with Kelsey and Courtney. i must admit, i was very hesitant about it – jonah hill tends to be pretty crude…but it was a lot better than i thought it would be. then we went to The Cheesecake Factory – my first dining experience there. (but not before seeing Reba McEntire walking into the movies at Green Hills! talk about us being starstruck!). Dinner was the BOMB dot COM forward slash awesome. (i wanted to get the BBQ burger like sheldon on the big bang theory, but got the wild mushroom burger instead). it was delicious. and the banana cream cheese was to dieeeee for!!

this morning, i went and saw my grandmother. she is the best! her christmas present to me was mississippi mud cake and money – she knows the way to my heart is through my stomach (and wallet ;) )

it’s like cake and fudge with pecans and coconut with marshmallows on top! we’ll see how much (if any) makes it back to south carolina with me ;)

i’m blessed to be surrounded by so many great friends and family! this is my first holiday season away from home (i won’t be home for Christmas – flying back wednesday), but i’m glad i was able to come home and spend time with those i love!

adventures of a crazy asian…

a photo blog of the last few weeks:

after being an avid window-shopper for like three years, i finally got a SnorgTees shirt!!

my christmas tree.
i need some new tree swag though…part of my garland is fraying and junk.
but it still looks good ;)

stockings were hung by the chimney fireplace that i never use with care.

ground turkey and macaroni casserole.
with modifications, this will be my favorite casserole ever.
this one has ground turkey, macaroni with broccoli and cheese soup with pepperjack and shredded cheese on top; baked at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
next time, i will use regular cheddar cheese soup with a little more pepper jack cheese for more of a *kick* – it has the potential to be amaaazing!

yesterday at work, we had the first annual Quant Olympics.
i owned at some Wii Bowling and came in third for Speed Scrabble.
next year, i’m suggesting Bananagrams – similar to scrabble except incredibly fast-paced. love it!

arts and crafts time with nikki!
making coasters for my friend Theresa to send to her sister and friend for Christmas. super excited!

1 Corinthians 13 and Proverbs 31 – two amazing passages of Scripture!
i absolutely love these designs :)

and my favorite drawing ever that i’ve drawn (and i really can’t draw all that well). a couple weeks ago, i was listening to “The Mixed Tape” by Jack’s Mannequin and i had this vision of a stereo being overtaken by waves (the words in the picture are the lyrics that inspired this vision) and so i drew this for my friend, Jan, who is in love with Andrew McMahon and our shared obsession draws us closer together :)

i’m so proud of this picture.

and tonight, i have the company christmas party and Switchfoot concert!!!

…big day for a little asian! :D

moving up in the ranks.

another week passed in the life of the Crazy Asian. i’m taking more of a management role over the sales database at work – and with great leadership comes great responsibility (and for me, great stress :P ). but i’m so excited about the opportunities that are presenting themselves at work and excited to see how they turn out.

yesterday, i ran another 5K – in theory, it was going to be fun, because it was the Pajama 5K. but in actuality, it was not a good race. i had on a long sleeve compression shirt and leggings on under my pajamas, but by the time the race started, it was in the 60s and i was hot and miserable. plus, i didn’t pace myself very well at all :/ i finished in 33:20, not a bad time considering i’m just getting back in to running and racing, but definitely wasn’t my best race at all….

…but i did see someone in a penguin onesie! and if you know me, i have a slight obsession with all things penguin.

excited about the things God has been doing through theWell at church and how God has been showing up! Read more about that HERE! i’m also very thankful for the relationships and friendships that are being built with people at theWell. the small group that Lia and I co-lead is growing and getting much stronger as i’m so blessed for that – blessed for all the people around me!

this week, thanksgiving is coming up and i’m so excited! celebrating with my friend Ashley and her friend Deanna. so ready for it :)

in other random news, i’m thinking about getting another tattoo and to put some fierce peekaboo highlights in my hair…yep…

but until next time, this crazy asian will continue to keep it crazy ;)

life is crazy – including seattle posts

life is crazy. i haven’t had (or made) time to blog over here in over two weeks, which is quite sad for someone who lovessss to blog!

since i last wrote, quite a bit has happened.

1. i dressed up like a ninja for halloween at work – it was pretty awesome.

2. i went to Seattle!

http://faithoverflow.blogspot.com/2011/11/seattle-day-one.html
http://faithoverflow.blogspot.com/2011/11/seattle-day-two.html

3. i found a place in Mount Pleasant to live!

my friend, ashley, and i are moving to Mt P at the beginning of the year! currently, i live about 20-30 minutes from Mt P (where i work and go to church and do just about everything anyways) and so i’m glad that we were able to find a place that suits both our needs! in the long run, i’ll actually be saving a lot of money (and time!) by making this move and honestly, after the first two or three months, the money and time i’ll save will have ultimately paid for the buyout fee of my current lease – which i have to pay since they don’t allow sublets :(

but all in all, i’m staying immensely busy. today will be wonderful considering i plan on doing nothing! haha. this week has been crazy busy and today is just my “lazy nikki” day. wholly needed!!
